How Much Does an STI or STD Test Cost in Australia?

How much does an STI or STD test cost in Australia? Fees vary between providers — this is what you'll pay with us. With a Medicare card, an STI or STD test (also called an STD check or screen) through Clinic365 is free: the Specialist GP telehealth consult is bulk-billed under Medicare, and pathology lab tests are covered by Medicare. Without Medicare, Clinic365 fees range from $49 (Express STI test, no consult) to $79 (telehealth Specialist GP consult), and additional lab fees may apply at the pathology lab.

With a Medicare card, STI testing is free. The Specialist GP telehealth consult is bulk-billed — no out-of-pocket cost for the consult. Pathology tests for the standard 5-infection STI screen (chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, HIV, hepatitis B) are also covered by Medicare at most major Australian pathology providers. This includes consults for PrEP, emergency PEP, and DoxyPEP.
Without a Medicare card, Clinic365 service fees are paid up-front. $49 for the Express STI test (SMS pathology referral, no consult), $79 for a telehealth Specialist GP consult, $49 for at-home test kits, $149 for an in-person consult in East Melbourne, $149 for HPV or Mpox vaccination, $199 for in-clinic genital wart or molluscum treatment. Pathology lab fees billed separately — most Private Health Insurers cover them; check with the lab you attend.
