Common reasons your results are delayed
Most results from Clinic365 STI tests come back by SMS within 24 to 48 hours. If yours haven't arrived, here are the four most common reasons — and what to do about each.
1. The lab is still processing
Some tests take longer than 48 hours — particularly herpes (HSV) PCR swabs, mycoplasma genitalium with resistance testing, and syphilis confirmatory bloods. Allow up to 5 working days before chasing. Public holidays and weekends can also delay processing.
2. Your sample didn't reach the lab properly
Occasionally a sample is rejected at the lab — for example, an not enough urine volume, a self-collect swab that wasn't fully inserted into the transport tube, or a sample that arrived warm. The lab will usually notify the referring doctor, who'll contact you to organise a re-test at no additional cost.
3. Your phone number changed or the SMS didn't deliver
If you've changed phone numbers since booking, or if your phone blocks unknown numbers, the SMS may have bounced. Use the form below to give us your current contact details and we'll re-send.
4. You went to the lab but the referral didn't come through
Pathology labs sometimes accept patients who don't have a referral on file (especially if you walked in shortly after booking). If the lab couldn't match your sample to your Clinic365 referral, the result may be sitting at the lab unprocessed. The form below tells us which lab you went to so we can chase it up.
If your result came back positive
Your Specialist GP will call you directly within 24 hours of a positive or abnormal result. There's no need to chase — and the treatment phone consult that follows is included free.
