Melbourne Pathology operates 300+ collection centres across greater Melbourne and regional VIC for routine pathology, but semen analysis drop-off is restricted to the two sites above. Separate semen analysis arrangements exist for Cabrini Hospital Malvern, Geelong, and Bendigo regions — see Melbourne Pathology directly for those local options.

Dorevitch Pathology (Healius)

Specimens accepted at designated drop-off sites only. Fertility samples must reach the lab within 40 minutes of collection (30 min at Bendigo). Post-vasectomy samples allow up to 3 hours. Phone the lab to confirm timing before collecting.

Fertility-clinic on-site collection rooms exist at Melbourne IVF, Monash IVF, Genea, City Fertility, Adora Fertility, and other Melbourne fertility services — all need a fertility-specialist referral and are typically used as part of an IVF/ICSI workup rather than for stand-alone GP-referred testing. The Hospital fertility unit (public) and Royal Melbourne Hospital andrology service handle complex andrology referrals — typically by referral from a treating specialist rather than a primary-care GP.

Laverty Pathology (Healius)

The largest semen-accepting network in NSW — 22 sites. Booking mandatory at every centre — drop-off times apply. Sample must reach the laboratory within 45 minutes of collection (Laverty's stated cut-off; sample must be examined within 1 hour). SNP is the dominant private pathology provider in Queensland, northern New South Wales, and the Northern Territory. Important WA-specific change. Effective 14 April 2024, PathWest (the WA public pathology service) no longer offers fertility analysis on semen samples, including samples for vasectomy reversal. PathWest continues post-vasectomy semen analysis only (metro patients deliver to PathWest, QEII Medical Centre, J Block Mon–Fri 8am–3pm; regional Mon–Thu only). Concept Fertility Centre (IVF clinic with andrology lab)

Concept Fertility has been operating in WA since 1982, with a purpose-designed andrology laboratory and bookable on-site collection rooms. Open to GP-referred patients, not only IVF clients. A semen analysis appointment is needed even if you bring the sample from home — phone reception to book. Concept also serves as ACL's primary WA semen drop-off location (listed above).

Fertility North (IVF clinic with NATA-accredited andrology lab)

Fertility North operates a NATA-accredited dedicated andrology laboratory inside Joondalup Private Hospital — the lab focuses exclusively on semen testing. Patients are asked to produce on-site in private collection rooms (recommended for sample integrity), or by arrangement deliver from home within 45 minutes of collection. Open to GP-referred patients. Phone first.

Western Diagnostic Pathology (WDP, Healius)

WDP operates over 200 collection centres across WA and the NT. Sample must reach a WDP centre within 1 hour of collection. Out-of-pocket fees apply for fertility and post-vasectomy. Monash IVF West Leederville (166–168 Cambridge Street, West Leederville WA 6007 — previously known as PIVET Medical Centre) and Genea Hollywood Fertility (Level 2, 190 Cambridge Street, Wembley WA 6014 — relocated from Hollywood Private Hospital in Nedlands) are full-service IVF clinics with their own andrology laboratories and on-site collection rooms. Open to GP-referred patients. Phone first. Fertility Specialists of WA (Bethesda Hospital, 25 Queenslea Drive, Claremont WA 6010) similarly offer andrology testing through their fertility programs.

Clinipath Pathology (Sonic Healthcare) — operates 250+ collection centres across Perth and regional WA, but Clinipath does not publish a dedicated semen-analysis collection page; semen-analysis arrangements through Clinipath vary by centre. Phone Clinipath before collecting if you intend to use one of their centres, or use one of the providers above where the policy is published.

Public sector pathway — King Edward Memorial Hospital runs a Reproductive Medicine Service / Fertility Clinic for patients already in tertiary public-hospital care; pathway-specific instructions come from the treating clinician. PathWest no longer accepts fertility samples (cessation note above).

ACL's only South Australian semen drop-off site is at the Adelaide Airport laboratory. Bookable on-site collection rooms also available at this location. Mon–Fri 8am–2pm; Saturday drop-off by appointment only. Sample must reach the lab within 1 hour of collection. Phone first to pre-book the drop-off time or a collection room.

Abbott Pathology — Mile End laboratory

Abbott Pathology accepts semen samples at their Mile End central laboratory only. Note Abbott's delivery window is unusually tight — no more than 30 minutes should elapse between collection and delivery (most other Australian providers allow up to 60 minutes). Repromed (IVF clinic with NATA-accredited andrology lab)

Repromed operates a NATA-accredited andrology laboratory at its Dulwich clinic, equipped for routine semen analysis, sperm DNA fragmentation (Halosperm), and cryopreservation. Open to GP-referred patients, not only IVF clients. An appointment is needed — phone reception to book a semen analysis appointment with a valid pathology request form. Reports issued within 5 business days. The Dulwich clinic is purpose-built with on-site day surgery and laboratories.

Genea Fertility SA (FertilitySA powered by Genea)

Genea Fertility SA operates from a single Adelaide CBD clinic and offers semen analysis through its IVF program. Open to GP-referred patients. Free Fertility Health Check available. Bookings essential — phone first.

Flinders Fertility (Glenelg)

Flinders Fertility offers semen analysis via referral to SA Pathology (public pathway) or via the at-home Sapyen kit (private pathway, from). Their on-site andrology lab in Glenelg supports IVF treatment cycles rather than diagnostic drop-off. For routine semen analysis through Flinders, phone reception to discuss the right pathway.

Clinpath Pathology (Mile End headquarters, 21 James Congdon Drive — over 160 collection centres across Adelaide and regional SA) is the major SA private pathology operator but does not publish a dedicated semen-analysis collection page. All specimens received are by APPOINTMENT ONLY. Sample must reach the collection centre within 40 minutes of collection. If that's not feasible, the centre offers a private on-site collection room by appointment.

Important Hobart Pathology service notes: Immunobead Test (sperm antibody test) samples can only be submitted to the Hobart site (Salamanca) Mon–Fri 8am–2pm — they're transported to TasIVF for processing. Sperm DNA fragmentation testing is not available through Hobart, Launceston, or North West Pathology — contact a fertility provider directly. Up-front payment needed; rebate may apply.

TML Pathology (Tasmanian Medical Laboratories, Healius)

2 verified semen-accepting laboratories in Tasmania. TML's official seminal fluid collection instructions need sample delivery to one of their collection centres within one hour of collection (a slightly longer window than Hobart Pathology's 40 minutes). Booking mandatory before collecting.

Capital Pathology (4 semen-accepting sites)

Capital Pathology accepts fertility and post-vasectomy samples at only four locations across their network — two in Canberra (Deakin), and two regional NSW sites within their catchment (Goulburn, Bega). Genea Canberra (IVF clinic with on-site andrology lab)

Genea Canberra operates dedicated andrology and pathology facilities on-site — Ground Floor (Andrology) and Level 1 (Pathology) at the same Deakin clinic. Semen analysis, post-vasectomy check, sperm DNA fragmentation (sperm chromatin integrity test), antisperm antibody, and sperm freezing are all available. Bookings essential — phone reception or use Genea's online andrology booking system. A valid pathology request form is needed.

IVFAustralia Canberra (Canberra Fertility Centre)

IVFAustralia's Canberra Fertility Centre is a full-service fertility clinic with on-site andrology services, serving the ACT and regional NSW (Wagga Wagga, Albury, Griffith, Goulburn, Southern Highlands, Snowy Mountains). Compass Fertility (boutique IVF clinic, Barton)

Compass Fertility is an independent Canberra fertility clinic offering andrology services in-house — semen analysis (count, motility, morphology), sperm freezing, and Y-chromosome genetic testing. Founded 2009. Medical Director Dr Nicole Sides. Phone first to book.

Other ACT/region providers

Laverty Pathology and Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology (both NSW providers) operate some collection centres servicing the ACT, but their primary semen analysis pathways route to Sydney-area laboratories — not practical for time-sensitive drop-off from Canberra. ACT Pathology (the public service operating from Canberra Hospital, Garran, and across community collection centres in Belconnen, Tuggeranong, Weston Creek, Gungahlin) does not publish a fertility/post-vasectomy semen analysis pathway — Canberra residents seeking semen analysis are best served by the four Capital Pathology sites or the three IVF clinic in-house labs listed above. The public service (Territory Pathology, based at Royal Darwin Hospital) primarily supports public hospital diagnostics rather than community fertility/post-vasectomy testing. Repromed (IVF clinic with NT-based andrology lab)

Repromed Darwin operates a NATA-accredited andrology laboratory on-site at Darwin Private Hospital — the only IVF clinic in the Territory with its own Darwin-based lab. Routine semen analysis, sperm DNA fragmentation (Halosperm), and cryopreservation are all performed locally rather than shipped interstate. Open to GP-referred patients, not only IVF clients. Part of the Monash IVF Group. Phone first to book — Repromed does not publish the specific lab address publicly; the team provides drop-off address details when you call to book. Territory Pathology is the public pathology service operating from Royal Darwin Hospital (Building 13) plus a network of 5 regional public-hospital laboratories (Alice Springs Hospital, Palmerston Regional Hospital, Katherine Hospital, Gove District Hospital, Tennant Creek Hospital). It primarily serves public hospital patients and does not publish a community fertility/post-vasectomy semen analysis pathway — phone NT Health Pathology if your referrer has specifically directed you there.
